Man United boss Louis van Gaal slams 'stupid' Anthony Martial

The Dutchman hit out at Martial's handball which led to the home side being awarded a penalty after just 15 minutes.

David De Gea saved Roman Eremenko's spot-kick but couldn't stop Seydou Doumbia converting the rebound.

The former Monaco striker atoned for his error by equalising after 65 minutes, heading in Antonio Valencia's cross.

"It was a stupid reaction from Anthony but before that maybe it was offside, I don't know," Van Gaal said.

"I thought it was offside, but I don't know. It was close. But the reaction, it's the first time that he did it and there always has to be a first time, but for us it was unlucky because I think we controlled the game.
